Fundamentally Fungus
Fundamentally Fungus have four, small specialised growing rooms
but also work directly with other organic growers so that they
have a wide range of mushrooms and consistent supply.
They have been organically certified since 1999. Specialty
mushroom are wild species grown in controlled rooms on woodchip
blocks to mimic conditions in the wild.
They do not sell wild picked mushrooms because they support the
principles set out in the 'Wild Mushroom Pickers Code of Conduct'
published by a number of conservation groups which discourages
pickers in commercial quantities. Most sources of wild mushrooms
are from less developed countries which use casual labour and have
little or no conservation strategies or quality control.
